Haynes Showroom

Furniture showroom renovation transforms a car-centric and bleak building to one designed around people.  A glass, steel and wood louvered facade brings light, shadow and interest to the main entry.

The parking lot incorporates phytoremediation—plants were selected to filter toxins to return water safely to the Chesapeake Bay.

The VA-based Haynes furniture company was looking for a green architecture firm in Norfolk, Virginia to renovate the exterior of their flagship store and HEDS was hired to update the existing 500′ long showroom.  The design transforms a car-oriented parking lot and facade to one that is people oriented and animated by daylight. The modern showroom design incorporates glass, steel and wood. Design Partner – Allison Ewing
